Frequently Asked Questions

What should a professional invoice include?

At minimum: your business name and contact details, the client’s bill-to information, a unique invoice number, invoice date, payment due date or Net terms, itemized line items (description, quantity, unit price), subtotal, tax, any discount, and the total due. Clear payment instructions (bank transfer, card link, or check) reduce chase emails.

How should I number invoices and set payment terms?

Use a sequential scheme such as INV-2026-001 so you never reuse a number. Common terms are Net 15 or Net 30 (due that many days after the invoice date). Put the due date on the PDF and match it in your contract or Shopify order notes. If clients pay late often, pair this generator with the Invoice Late Fee calculator.

How are tax and discounts calculated here?

Line items form a subtotal (quantity × unit price). A discount amount is subtracted (capped at the subtotal), then tax is applied to the remaining taxable amount using your tax rate percentage. The total is taxable amount + tax. Adjust the rate for your nexus or local rules; this tool does not file sales tax returns.

Is my invoice draft uploaded to a server?

No. Form data auto-saves to your browser’s local storage for convenience, and PDF generation with jsPDF + autoTable runs entirely on your device. Clearing site data or using the reset control removes the local draft. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Can freelancers and Shopify sellers use the same template?

Yes. Shopify owners can invoice wholesale, custom work, or offline sales; freelancers can bill services the same way. For tax planning on contractor income, use the Independent Contractor, Gig / Rideshare, 1099-NEC, or general 1099 estimators after you get paid.

Invoice PDF Generator for Shopify Sellers & Freelancers: Professional Bills in Minutes

A clean invoice is how Shopify merchants and freelancers get paid on time. Clients need your details, theirs, a unique invoice number, dates, itemized work or products, tax, discounts, and a clear total—without logging into accounting software for a one-off bill.

This free Invoice PDF Generator builds that document in your browser. Add sender and recipient blocks, line items with live amounts, a tax rate, and a discount, then preview the invoice as HTML before downloading a PDF via jsPDF and jsPDF-AutoTable. Drafts auto-save locally so you can refine wording without losing progress.

Good hygiene matters as much as design: sequential invoice numbers, Net 15/30 due dates, and payment terms on the face of the PDF. When payments slip, the Invoice Late Fee calculator helps you model overdue interest. When the income is 1099 or self-employment, connect to the Independent Contractor, Gig / Rideshare, and 1099 tax tools for set-aside planning.

Everything stays on your device—no uploads, no account, and no server-side storage of client names or amounts. It is a privacy-first document utility for US freelancers and Shopify owners, not a substitute for full accounting or tax filing software.
