How does this GIF optimizer reduce file size?
It decodes every frame with gifuct-js, redraws them on a Canvas at your target size, optionally keeps only every Nth frame, then re-encodes with gifenc using a smaller color palette. Smaller dimensions, fewer frames, and fewer colors usually cut Shopify/SNS GIF weight dramatically.
What is frame skip?
Frame skip keeps 1 of every N frames (for example 1/2 keeps every other frame). Playback stays animated but the file carries fewer frames, which is one of the biggest GIF size levers. Start at 2 for product loops; raise it only if motion still looks acceptable.
Will color reduction make my GIF look bad?
GIFs are already palette-based (max 256 colors). Dropping to 64 or 128 colors often looks fine for marketing loops and can save substantial bytes. Use 32 for extreme compression; keep 256 if you need smoother gradients.
Are my GIFs uploaded to a server?
No. Decode, resize, and re-encode all run in your browser tab. Nothing is transmitted—safe for unreleased campaign creatives.
When should I use a static image instead of a GIF?
