What does this calculator compute for a single payment?
It estimates one processor’s fee and net payout from a percentage rate plus a fixed fee. In Charged Amount mode: Fee = Charged × Rate + Fixed, and Net Payout = Charged − Fee. In Target Payout mode it solves Charged = (Payout + Fixed) ÷ (1 − Rate), then Fee = Charged − Payout. Result cards show charged amount, total fee, and net payout; Fee math lists the active rate and the percentage vs fixed portions of the fee.
Which preset rates can I select, and what is Custom for?

How should I read fee vs net payout so I do not underprice?
Total fee is what the processor keeps under the selected rate; net payout is what remains for you after that fee. Quoting the charged amount as if it were take-home ignores both the percentage and the fixed portion—especially painful on small tickets where $0.30 or $0.49 is a larger share. Use Charged Amount mode to stress-test an existing price, and Target Payout mode when you must land a specific after-fee number before you send an invoice.
